The Gloaming: I get this

I get this.

Oh, I don’t understand the words Iarla Ó Lionaird is singing, but I still get this.

I understand the music. The ups and downs. Where it makes me sway. Where I feel compelled to stop what I’m doing and close my eyes and just let it take me away.

I understand the tone of the words. The sweet and the sour. The pain and longing mirrored by violin. The hint of long-held angst stomping away in Allistrum’s March.

The Gloaming’s self-titled debut is a thing of beauty.

I get this.
